#MyDataOurHealth was a global campaign aimed at highlighting the immense potential of health data to improve health outcomes and the urgent need for a governance framework to ensure its safe, equitable, and beneficial use. Health, as defined by the World Health Organization (WHO), encompasses complete physical, mental, and social well-being, not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. WHO further emphasized that advancements in health promotion and protection benefit all societies.
In collaboration with regional and Tanzania partners, EANNASO joined Transform Health in advocating for a health data governance framework as part of the MyDataOurHealth project that took place from January 2023 to December 2023. The initiative mobilized organizations and individuals to push for the establishment of a regional health data framework policy, addressing the lack of comprehensive health data governance both in the East African Community (EAC) and globally. Through high-level meetings and engagements, the campaign gained traction, reaching out to civil society groups and communities to urge their governments to endorse health data governance principles.
