ANGLOPHONE AFRICA CIVIL SOCIETY AND COMMUNITY GROUPS REGIONAL MEETING

Maximizing Civil Society and Community groups engagement in Global Fund Funding Request development and implementation.

Background

The Global Fund Community Engagement Strategic Initiative (CE SI) seeks to strengthen the engagement of communities most affected by the three diseases in Global Fund processes. It does so through three mutually reinforcing components that include:

  • The provision of short term peer-to-peer technical assistance to community and civil groups and organizations.
  • The provision of long-term capacity development interventions to organizations and networks of key and vulnerable populations.
  • The regular and timely provision of relevant HIV, TB and Malaria information to communities through existing regional platforms, which strengthen community knowledge and coordination in Global Fund and related processes and improve access to short term technical assistance

The CE SI supports the engagement of communities and civil society actors at all stages of the Global Fund grant life cycle, and is critical in the design, development and implementation of effective responses to the three diseases and system strengthening, as it ensures that Global Fund investments evolve as responsive to those most impacted.
